In 1800 Jacob Lunger settled in Green Creek. This discouraged settlement because of the fear of defective titles.

The Asylum Land Co., a syndicate of land speculators, secured a large tract embracing the whole of Jackson Township and the adjoining portions of Sugarloaf, Greenwood, and Pine, and of Lycoming and Sullivan counties. After 2 miles turn onto the Waller Divide Road from Route 239. Go about ¼ mile, the Jackson Township Municipal Building will be on your left.įrom the North – follow Route 118 to Route 239 south. After 5 miles turn onto the Waller Divide Road from Route 239 (about 8 miles from the town of Benton). These meetings may include a Zoning Hearing Board or other ad hoc meetings.įrom the South – follow Route 487 north to Route 239 north. Other meetings: will be held on an as-needed basis. Planning or Zoning meeting: Is held when necessary at 6:00pm on the first Tuesday of the month, just prior to the Supervisors Meeting. Supervisors Meeting: Is held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the township building located at: 862 Waller Divide Road, Benton, PA 17814. According to the 2020 census there are a little over 600 residents in the township. Jackson Township comprises 18.6 square miles of country – farms, homes, hunting cabins, dirt roads, nice folks and lots of wildlife.
